Newburyport 250 Declaration of Independence Day
Join us in Newburyport on July 19 for this celebration commemorating the arrival and first reading of the Declaration of Independence in Newburyport. We’ll walk at 1:45 p.m. with Governor Maura Healey, a compliment of 18th century townsfolk, and revolutionary war re-enactors from Brown Square to Market Square, where we’ll listen to the Declaration as a community. Continue on with us as we march on to see a waterfront display of tallships in the harbor and at the dock. This is a free, family-friendly event for all.
Throughout the day, Revolutionary townsfolk, soldiers, sailors, demonstrations, and three historic sailing vessels will bring the past to life, along with family activities from Brown Square to the waterfront from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Period activities will include artillery and musket demonstrations, arts, crafts, printing, cooking, and tattooing experiences.
