A Visit to Gametime Northshore - The North Shore Moms

Gametime Northshore

Gametime Northshore is the newest spot for indoor fun on the North Shore. Located at the Northshore Mall, in Peabody, Gametime Northshore features bowling, an arcade, billiards, shuffleboard and axe throwing. I brought my 8-year-old son and two of his friends on a recent snowy afternoon and we all had a great time!

The first thing we checked out was the bowling alley. It’s traditional-style, 10-pin bowling (big balls, not candlepin) and there were plenty of bowling balls in various sizes for all ages. Plus a few ball ramps to help smaller kids. I appreciated that the kids could use the bumpers and I didn’t have to, as they can be selected individually, by player.

After a game of traditional bowling we switched to Hyperbowling, which adds a video game element to bowling. Bumpers are added for all players and they light up in different colors. Each color is a point multiplier so depending on where you hit the bumpers, before hitting the pins, you can earn a lot of extra points on each roll. The boys were big fans of this and liked it better than regular bowling.

While bowling you can also order food to your lane. Gametime Northshore has a full menu of snacks, drinks and meal options. We went for the pizza…can’t go wrong with that and hungry boys. My son is kind of picky about pizza crust and gave their brick oven pizza a rave review!

If you don’t want to eat while bowling, there’s also a full bar on the lower level and a large restaurant and bar on the upper level with several huge screens. We caught a few minutes of the Celtics game in between bowling and heading to the arcade.

The Gametime Northshore arcade rivals other local arcades, with a variety of classic games like the claw machine and skee-ball as well as VR and interactive sports games. Kids can earn points based on their game play and redeem them for standard arcade prizes.

The boys were a little young for billiards or axe-throwing but either of those would be fun activities for older kids or a parent’s night out.

Looking at Gametime Northshore from the outside you would never know it’s two floors of fun. There are two big function rooms (one upstairs and one downstairs) for hosting your child’s next birthday party or a private event. Also, for every birthday party, the child’s name is displayed on a jumbo digital selfie wall that makes for a cool, custom-made photo op. (Fun tip: you can reserve the axe-throwing boards for Nerf-Gun birthday parties too!)
