I’m excited to introduce Sarah and Kate to you today! Together they are the creators of the Rise + Shine Marketplace. You may recognize the name from their popular winter holiday markets, but they also have a Spring Marketing happening at the Salem Country Club on June 8, 2024. Keep reading to learn how they came to start Rise + Shine and what to expect from their upcoming event.
Where are you from originally and what town do you live in now?
Sarah: I am originally from Chicago, and now live in Lynnfield, MA.
Kate: I am originally from Holliston, MA, and now live in Winchester, MA, where my husband grew up and where I moved my interior design firm in 2020.
How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?
Sarah: I have two children: James is 11 and Lily is 8.
Kate: I have three children: Eleanor is 11, Julia is 8, and Andrew is 6.
What’s your favorite family activity on the North Shore?
Sarah: Our favorite family activity on the North Shore is go for family bike rides and explore new places.
Kate: A picnic dinner on of the many north shore beaches at the end of the day, when the sun is going down and crowds are gone
Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop on the North Shore?
Sarah: One of our new family favorite places to eat is Blu Karma in Danvers! I love finding new local shops, my favorite place to find cute outfits is Charleston & Coco in Newburyport.
Kate: Downtown Newburyport has the cutest shops and Salt & Grove is one of my favorites.They curate a really cute collection of small batch, local made gifts.
Tell us a little bit about your background and how you came to start the Rise + Shine Marketplace.
Sarah: Kate and I met in 2018, and hit it off right away. We are both connectors and bonded over our love of craft, creativity and the joy finding and supporting local makers. We dreamed up an idea to create an elevated, highly-designed event and space for local makers to shine that wasn’t like anything either of us had been to before.
Kate: I come from a line of creative women, so it’s no surprise that I entered a creative field. My grandmother and great-grandmother were hat designers and my grandmother was a crafter. I grew up attending craft fairs with her. These smart, powerful female visionaries helped shape my future and continue to do so! As Sarah mentioned, I am a connector and have a passion for supporting local makers, so curating a collection of high end makers and sharing their talents with a broader audience seemed like a natural and authentic progression of my brand.
What is the Rise + Shine Marketplace?
Sarah: Rise + Shine is a highly designed, specially curated event that creates a space for shoppers to rise and makers to shine. Each event is carefully curated, planned and designed. You will enjoy, food, drinks, live music, and inspired conversation.
Kate: Rise + Shine is a celebration of community, connection and creativity. It gives local makers an opportunity to share their talent with the community and further grow their brands by connecting with like-minded small business owners. I love seeing these makers sell their goods, but my heart really sings when I see them talking about their businesses and sharing stories and connections with other makers. It’s like a hive, buzzing with positive energy.
When and where is the next Rise + Shine Marketplace taking place?
Sarah: The next Rise + Shine Marketplace is June 8, from 10am to 3pm, at Salem Country Club, located at 133 Forest Street, in Peabody, MA.
Kate: Save the date for our Holiday Market, on November 23rd, in Winchester, MA, at Winchester Town Hall. The perfect time to get a jumpstart on your holiday shopping!
Who are some of the vendors that moms can expect to see at the June Rise + Shine Marketplace?We have some amazing jewelry vendors, we strive to ensure we don’t have any overlapping categories and the jewelry vendors are all unique in their own way.
We have pottery, candles, blankets, beautiful perfume, hats, local food businesses that will be offering samples and so much more!
Antea Amoroso will be at our event available to personalize your items!
Some vendors the kids will love are Buggy Box Co. that offers fun travel packs, Tyed with Love that has cute tie dyed sweatshirts and denim jackets that can be customized at their patch bar and Nabia Designs which has jewelry and a charm bar to make bracelets and necklaces.
Besides shopping, what are some of the other things attendees can expect at the upcoming Marketplace?
Live Music from Vivian Luo, delicious food and drinks (included in the ticket price), and beautiful scenery at the golf course. We will have outside seating for you to sit, relax, and enjoy the view.
How do moms purchase tickets to the June Rise & Shine Marketplace?
You can purchase tickets on our website and at the door. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for kids, with kids 5 and under getting in for free.

What’s your favorite item (or items) that you’ve purchased at a past Rise + Shine Marketplace?
Sarah: My favorite item that I have purchased at Rise + Shine…I don’t think i can name just one…my perfume that I bought from Emmotiv, my Paperboat Bag backpack and I was so excited to get a necklace from Nabia Designs I already bought it, I couldn’t wait until June!
Kate: Don’t make me pick a favorite!! I always do a little shopping for myself, but I also shop for loved ones and always snag special holiday gifts for my team. Personally, I love my Amanda Couley bracelet stack, which I keep adding to. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.
What is the best piece of mom advice you ever received?
Sarah: The best thing you can do is be confident and believe in yourself. If you believe this for yourself you will instill this in your children. Also to be present, and in the moment, both the big and small moments.
Kate: Don’t sweat the small stuff. When the mood needs to be turned around, turn the music up! My husband and I are huge music lovers, so music is always a back-drop in our home. When someone is cranky or the vibe is tense, the right song can lighten the mood and turn things around.
What’s your favorite thing to do when you need some “me” time?
Sarah: Take a walk outside on a beautiful day or get a massage.
Kate: Fire up a good playlist and take a long walk outside to tune out all the noise.
