A Visit to Millennium Personal Spa | The North Shore Moms

Tucked in the corner of a shopping plaza off Enon Street, in Beverly, MA, you’ll find Millennium Personal Spa & Hair Studio. Millennium is actually two businesses. The Hair Studio is owned and directed by Jeffrie Zampell and the Spa, which is where my visit took place, is owned and directed by Julie Gross.

Julie is a Danvers mom of one son and a Master Esthetician with 29 years of experience. She founded Millennium Personal Spa 25 years ago and is still in touch with her very first client! She loves being a part of the North Shore community and getting to know her clients and share stories about their families during appointments. She said it’s truly been a gift to meet so many wonderful people and her clients at Millennium have added so much joy to her life.

At Millennium they specialize in facials customized to each client’s skin, peels, dermaplaning, lash lifts & tints, waxing (eyebrow, lip and bikini) and non-surgical rejuvenation.

Also working with Julie, are Master Esthetician Jennifer Boyan and Nurse Injector Kathy Serio. Kathy has been on Julie’s team for 20 years and is a great choice for moms who are new to injectables. She’s a born hand-holder and specializes in providing clients with a natural, refreshed look.

I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with Jennifer, and was treated to some amazing spa services including a facial with DF Treatment, dermaplane treatment and an Elleebana lash lift & tint.

The DF Treatment is unique to Millennium, as the service is the flagship Environ Treatment and they are one of the few local spas to carry the Environ professional skin care line. The treatment utilizes an ultrasound machine to enhance the penetration of active vitamins and essential growth factors into your skin, producing smoother, firmer and healthier skin.

When I arrived at Millennium my skin was definitely dry from winter and looked very dull. Two weeks later, I’m seeing and feeling a big difference! On top of that my face feels incredibly smooth and I attribute part of that to the dermaplaning. This was my first professional experience with dermaplaning and it was so gentle I could have taken a nap. I know a lot of people wonder, does the hair grow back darker, thicker, etc? But if you think about it, the razor is not altering the root in any way, it’s just skimming the hair off of the surface of the face, so what grows back will only be hair similar to what was there to begin with. Jennifer showed me all of the dead skin cells that came off my face after and I can tell you this was a service I absolutely needed!

I ended my treatments with the lash lift & tint. This was the treatment I was most excited for but also most anxious about. I have pretty sensitive eyes and am terrible about things touching my eye area, hence the anxiety. In addition to Jennifer being a Master Esthetician, she is also an Energy Worker and has the most calming energy about her. Pair that with her friendly personality and she immediately put me at ease. If you’re not familiar with a lash lift & tint, it’s basically a tiny perm and dye-job for your lashes.

Each step requires you to rest with your eyes closed while the solution is applied to your lashes. Some people actually relax so much they take a “lash nap.” That wasn’t the case for me, but when I started to fidget a little, Jennifer immediately distracted me and helped calm me down. I was really happy with the results and friends commented a few days later that my eyes looked pretty, before I had a chance to mention the service. So I think the results are worth the few minutes of anxiety. The whole lash lift & tint process took about 45 minutes.

If you’re new to this treatment or curious about what type of facial would help your skin look its best, I highly recommend Jennifer! She is so kind and a true skin care expert. You can also find her in her Energy Studio in Hamilton.

Once I completed my treatments Julie walked me through the professional skincare lines they stock at Millennium, including Environ, G.M. Collin and Neocutis. They’ve carried Environ for 21 years and use many of the products as part of their spa treatments. G.M. Collin is a French pharmaceutical grade line with essential oils. Your skin will both smell and feel good! And Neocutis is a medical skin care line known for its growth factors that do a great job stimulating collagen.

Julie generously gifted me some of her favorite products: The Environ Vitamin A Youth Serum, G.M. Collin Native Collagen Gel, G.M. Collin Hydramucine Hydrating Mist and RapidLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum. I’ve been using all four products for the last two weeks and can definitely see and feel a big difference in my skin.

Prior to this visit I was someone who shopped for skin care mainly at Sephora and was definitely influenced by products that were new and trendy on Instagram. It feels really nice to know that I’m using products an expert specially picked for my skin type and to already see them working. Millennium had a great selection of products, so even if the time isn’t right for a spa treatment, I encourage you to consider them when shopping for skin care products!
