This week I’m introducing a wonderful couple from Wilmington, with a business based out of Peabody. I first met Lori Morad at a chapter meeting for Women’s Business League. Lori was so enthusiastic in every conversation, ranging from business to motherhood. And I was especially happy to connect with her when I mentioned a summer camp program I had just signed my 6 year old up for, not really knowing what to expect, and she shared that it was at the same school her sons attended and gushed over what a great program it was. Where are you from originally and what town do you live in now?
Lori (LM) – I’m originally from Burlington, MA.
Stephen (SM) – I’m originally from Quincy, MA
We currently live in Wilmington, MA
How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?
We have 3 boys. Twin boys who are 16 years old and the youngest is 13 years old.
What’s your favorite family activity on the North Shore?
We love the Topsfield Fair and all the fair food! We love to go apple picking and we also love Richardson’s Ice Cream & Mini Golf, in Middleton.
Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop on the North Shore?
We love shopping at MarketStreet Lynnfield and at The Northshore Mall. It’s so hard to pick a favorite restaurant! We love to eat at all local restaurants.
Tell us a little bit about your background and how you got started as the co-owners of Mr. Handyman of South Essex County.
Eighteen years ago, we wanted to purchase a franchise that would allow us more opportunity to be home when we had children and allow us the freedom to volunteer in our community.

We have owned and operated Mr. Handyman of South Essex County for 18+ years.
What types of services does Mr. Handyman offer?
Mr. Handyman offers a variety of services for residential clients and commercial businesses. These include: Repair, Remodel, Windows, Assembly, Interior Painting, Carpentry, Ceiling & Wall Repair and more.
What services are most popular for this time of year?
This time of year, we do a lot of the, “to do list,” for people who are getting ready for the holidays. We also have a lot of bathroom repair, tiling, interior painting and bathroom remodeling projects right now.
How do moms get started working with Mr. Handyman?
They can call us at 978-531-5939 or schedule service online at www.mrhandyman.com/south-essex-county. Unless special arrangements are made in advance, you should be home during the scheduled appointment. If you prefer an estimate, in most cases we can provide a general price estimate over the phone.
Mr. Handyman arrives at the scheduled appointment time in a clearly marked van with a variety of tools and supplies. You will be assigned a technician skilled in the work to be done.
When you hire Mr. Handyman, you and your property are protected. Mr. Handyman technicians are fully insured for accidental damage and workers’ compensation. If one of our handymen is injured while performing work in your home or business, you are free of liability.
Most often, services are billed based on project basis. The benefit you receive is that you only pay for the time required to complete the work. We work with whatever materials you supply—paint that you want to be used, kitchen tile or light bulbs that you have purchased. If there are additional materials needed for your job, we will discuss options to acquire those materials.

Any tips for balancing work & parenthood?
Honestly, we take each day and try to do our best, our boys have a pretty heavy schedule of activities. We eat dinner every night together and talk about their day and engage with no phones or electronics. We try to enjoy every minute we can before they head off to college.
What is the best piece of parenting advice you ever received?
The best advice we can give is to listen as much as you can and be present for your children. We are so lucky to have them and the boys will be home for such a short period of time.
What’s your favorite thing to do when you need some “me” time?
LM – We love to shop local and we love to travel with our boys.
SM – Me time? Well, I am not so sure about that:) I guess I try to relax when I am home.
