Edge on Science is a popular series of summer camp programs offering topics in applied science and engineering. For several years, Edge on Science Founder, John Aviste, has offered these camps at Lasell University in Newton, Massachusetts and other locations in New York State. Last year he expanded to Beverly, offering Whales n’ Things, a marine science program at Endicott College.
Based on the success of those programs, Edge on Science is now offering a full schedule of weeklong (M-F), full-day (9am-4pm) programs for 2022! Programs are designed for kids ranging from ages 7-17 (please see details below for grade level requirements). All lead instructors at Edge on Science are engineers, scientists or scholars. Your child can expect to receive plenty of 1:1 instruction with a child to instructor/assistant ratio of 7:1 or less. Each program also includes plenty of outdoor games and challenges.
Camp topics include:
Bridge Building (6/27-7/1): Your child will build several bridges of different designs, including a suspension type, spanning 12 m! This program is perfect for rising 5th-9th graders. Cost is $795. (Counselor-in-Training spots are also available for rising 10th-12th graders at a discounted rate.)
Drone & Code (6/27-7/1): STEM takes flight in this hands-on drone engineering program! We do this in a great hall on campus with wide-open space and fresh air. Fly your code! This program is perfect for rising 6th-9th graders. Cost is $795. (Counselor-in-Training spots are also available for rising 10th-12th graders at a discounted rate.)
Summer Rocket Blast Off (6/27-7/1): Take to the sky this summer! Using rocket flight simulation software and rocketry fundamentals, each child creates and flies their own rocket. Hands-on STEM activities, games, and competitions keep everyone engaged and on task. At the end of the week, campers will launch their rockets for family and friends. This program is perfect for rising 5th-9th graders. Cost is $795. (Counselor-in-Training spots are also available for rising 10th-12th graders at a discounted rate.)
Super Science Sampler (6/27-7/1): It’s like an all-you-can-eat buffet of science! Through hands-on projects and experimentation, your child will explore many branches of applied science, indoors and out. Chemistry, microscopy, aerodynamics, astronomy, magnetism, rocketry, and more—there’s something new every day! This program is perfect for rising 3rd-5th graders. Cost is $795. Whales n’ Things (Multiple sessions offered: 7/25-7/29, 8/1-8/5, 8/8-8/12 or 8/15-8/19): Kids will enjoy learning about the whales who swim off our New England coast and then join a local whale watching trip to search for them! An Edge on Science marine biologist will inspire your child as they explore local coastal areas, learning to observe as a naturalist does. This program is perfect for rising 5th-9th graders.
