Today I’m excited to share an interview with a Carrie Richardson, a Middleton mom and Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist at the new Middleton Cosmetic and Laser. MCL opened its doors at 147 South Main Street, in June of 2020, to fulfill the commitment to provide comprehensive dermatologic services to patients of Middleton family medicine and the North Shore alike.

MCL is owned by two locals, Dr. Mark Allara of Hamilton and Certified Physician Assistant Matt Galvin of Melrose. When asked about the timing of their opening, Matt said, “Although starting a business in the middle of a Pandemic was not ideal when Dr. Allara and I were presented with the opportunity to team up with a highly skilled and well-recognized provider such as Carrie Richardson, we knew now was the time.”  Keep reading to learn more about Carrie and the services she and the team at MCL offer.

What’s your favorite family activity on the North Shore?
We love to take hikes with our dog, Duke, through Boxford, Gloucester and Rockport.

Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop on the North Shore?
I love to shop in Newburyport and then grab a bite to eat at Agave in downtown Newburyport. We also frequent Maggie’s Farm in Middleton and Frank in Beverly.

Tell us a little bit about your background and how you got started on the team at Middleton Cosmetic & Laser.
I have been working in the cosmetic industry for about 8 years and I am passionate about what I do. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Southern New Hampshire. After getting certified from both the National Laser Institute and the Esthetic Institute, I became a Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist through the Plastic Surgical Board. I was fortunate enough to be mentored by two amazing cosmetic injectors, Michelle Doran and Linda Vecchione, for 7 years. Then, a client of mine who was also a dermatology client of Matt Galvin’s, one of the owners of MCL, introduced Matt and I. The rest is history!

What are some of the services available at Middleton Cosmetic & Laser?
We offer a variety of injectables at MCL. Botox is our number one service. Dermal fillers are a close second. In addition, we offer a variety of laser/light treatments for skin tightening, rosacea, pigment and vascular lesions. Our fabulous Medical Esthetician, Meaghan Doherty, treats patients with two types of facials both achieving the ultimate glow. One is more of a medical grade facial which is called the Diamond Glow. This treatment exfoliates, extracts and infuses a specialty serum into the skin simultaneously. There are six different specialty serums to choose from. If you are looking for a facial with a bit of pampering, I would recommend you book her customized signature facial which starts with a cleansing followed by an exfoliation and a light peel. Then, the skin is steamed and extracted. Final steps include a hydrating Hydrojelly mask and relaxing massage for the ultimate spa experience. Meaghan is also busy performing chemical peels this time of year. We offer an array of peels at different intensities, ranging from mild to moderate to aggressive.

How have your service offerings changed during the COVID-19 pandemic ?
We continue to provide the highest level quality service offerings at MCL. Since COVID, our administrative and cleaning protocols have evolved to ensure the safety of both our clients and staff. We take the safety and well-being of all of our clients extremely seriously, now more than ever. All clients are pre-screened with a series of questions called our COVID questionnaire. Clients call us once they arrive. They are met at our private entrance where their temperature is taken. All patients must be masked both outside and inside the room, if possible. All providers wear both a K95 mask and a face shield. Hand sanitizer and hand washing is encouraged. All rooms are sanitized between patients. So far, the process has gone extremely smoothly.

What service do you recommend most to moms?
For moms, I would recommend either of our facials, both achieving the ultimate glow! I personally love the Diamond Glow facial which is more of a medical facial. If you want some pampering, I would recommend Meaghan’s signature facial. Then, I typically recommend Botox because I feel everyone over the age of 35 can use some Botox!

What’s your favorite thing to do when you have some “me” time ?
I love to exercise as a way to destress. Lately, I have been enjoying my Peloton bike. Leanne Hainsby and Cody Rigsby are two of my favorite instructors.
