Meet Annie Coe | The North Shore Moms

When I received a note from Annie earlier this week I knew she would be a great fit for the Meet a Small Business Owner Series. Annie is a soon-to-be mama herself, and her team at The Cabot Lodge is made up entirely of women. They are still open as an essential business, hosting guests in need. Read more about Annie’s business below.

Why did you choose to open a business on the North Shore?
I grew up on the North Shore and there are limited boutique hotel options. Being an artsy seaside city on the rise, Beverly has may wonderful residents, businesses, events, and schools that we serve.

How has the COVID-19 crisis impacted your business?
We’ve lost the majority of our reservations for the coming three months, with postponed weddings, graduations, and shows at the theaters. We’ve kept our doors open to continue serving folks like college students home, stranded students, non-profit employees, and health care workers. Our team is muscling through this to help those in need.

How are you adapting your business model to better serve customers right now?
Our service limits human interaction, so it’s a great fit for social distancing. We issue a Bluetooth key to guests on their day of arrival, so they may check into the property and head to their room seamlessly. This model has been essential to keep our staff and guests safe and healthy.

What is one way that the moms (or all residents) can help your business survive during this difficult time?
We’d love to engage more followers on Instagram (follow @thecabotlodge) and Facebook (@thecabotlodge), or subscribe to our e-newsletter through our website. Email us to buy a gift certificate for a friend, or family member who may visit this summer, because when we recover from this pandemic we’ll all want to get out of the house!

Name another business that could benefit from the support of the North Shore Moms community.
Chianti is a 27 year veteran to Beverly’s restaurant and music scene. A supporter of arts, entertainment, and Beverly’s growth, they pack their lounge with local musicians almost every night. Those musicians, servers, and bartenders are now out of work.

On a lighter note, name one fun or relaxing way you are using your time at home during this crisis.
I’ve been preparing for the arrival of my first child, due on April 9th! Might sound tedious or boring, but as a hotelier there’s nothing more satisfying to me than cleaning, organizing, and planning every detail.
