Virtual Dance-a-thon to Benefit Girls Inc. of the Seacoast Area
February 27 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
The Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center will host the first Girls Inc. Virtual Dance-a-thon, a fundraising event to benefit the Girls Inc. of the Seacoast Area program that empowers local girls to be strong, smart, and bold. The Dance-a-thon will happen virtually on Zoom Saturday, February 27th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
The first of its kind for the organization, this event is a safer, virtual alternative to the annual Girls Rock Climb-a-thon. We wanted to create an event for the girls to engage with one another and have fun, safely from their home, during the pandemic.
The Girls Inc. Dance-a-thon is open to all girls ages 7-14 and will be a fun, energetic night, with a warmup, freeform dance, followed by a choreography lesson from April MacDonald of The Dance Place Newburyport. There will be an opportunity to win top fundraising prizes and several raffles for attendees. Participation in Girls Inc. programming is not required to attend this event. To participate, girls can register at https://jeannegeigercrisiscenter.org/events/2021girlsincdanceathon
Not only will the girls enjoy dancing the day of the event, youth members of the Girls Inc. Advisory Committee will be instrumental in pulling together prize packages for top fundraisers, as well as securing raffle prizes, while learning lessons from the Girls Inc. curriculum on budgeting, community outreach and more. Grand prizes for the two top fundraisers include a set of Apple AirPods and five passes to Amesbury’s Board & Brush. To be eligible to win one of these prizes, climbers must fundraise prior to the event, collecting donations from friends, families and neighbors, online via a peer-to-peer fundraising page. Donations must be turned in prior to the event. Prize winners will be announced at the event and winners must be present online to claim their prize. Participants are not required to fundraise; all participants, including those who choose not to fundraise, will be entered in a prize drawing at the conclusion of the event, which includes prizes from local area businesses.
A special thank you to April MacDonald of The Dance Place of Newburyport for offering her time and to Amesbury’s Board & Brush for donating two workshop passes for a prize.
