Go on a half-mile adventure through the sanctuary to areas turtles love to frequent\, giving you the chance to observe them up close. Chances are good to spot here Painted Turtles basking in the sun\, and you may even spot the legendary resident Snapping Turtle\, Godzilla\, at the Rockery. \nAlong the way\, you’ll touch real turtle shells\, explore turtle habitats\, and learn how Mass Audubon is working to protect endangered turtle species here in Massachusetts. Sanctuary admission is included for the rest of the day\, so bring a picnic and keep exploring after the program.

DESCRIPTION:PEM is excited to participate in Salem Food Tours’ “Food at 400+”  open house weekend! \nExplore free\, food-related special exhibits at a variety of historic houses and museums across downtown Salem. PEM’s Cotting-Smith Assembly House and John Ward House will both be open for visitors\, and we’ll be giving away gingerbread cookies adapted from a recipe by Sally Ropes Orne\, former resident of Ropes Mansion. (Learn more about her recipes on our blog.) \nOther participating historic houses include the House of the Seven Gables\, the Jonathan Corwin house and the Phillips House.
